Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mr. Hardy graduated from the University of Utah where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication - Journalism in 1979. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he earned a minor degree in French and Tahitian from his 2-year experience living in French Polynesia. Also, while attending the U. of U., he earned a place on the football team and served a Communications-internship with the Salt Lake Office of Senator Orrin Hatch.
Following a successful first career as the managing employee for a local real estate developer and home builder in Salt Lake, Mr. Hardy moved to Sacramento to attend the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in the evening while he worked as a Contract Administrator for IBM to support his small family. He graduated, and passed the California State Bar in 1988. In 1995, he sat for and passed the Nevada State Bar. He has tried various cases in both contract and tort-the most significant of which involved construction defects-to successful jury verdict in representing varied interests including a general contractor in high-end custom home construction; a recognized supplier of specialty windows; and, a larger retail grocery chain.
He participates in the litigation process as a "neutral" acting as Special Master, Mediator, or Arbitrator overseeing and deciding issues ranging from Personal Injury and Real Property through protracted Mold and Construction Defect claims. He has completed extensive continuing legal education that includes seminars by the Defense Research Institute covering mold litigation, by the Negotiation Strategy Institute, and by the respected Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution centered at the Pepperdine School of Law where he earned a certificate in Construction and Construction Defect resolution.
Mr. Hardy's success in Litigation and in Alternative forms of Dispute Resolution stems from instincts honed by his life's experience covering 35 happily married years, and two varied and successful careers enhanced by a teacher's intuition and a reporter's curiosity.
